AIR QUALITY home page         Atmospheric pollutant dispersion models

Dispersion models at LaMMA AIR QUALITY sector are used in the study of transport and diffusion of pollutant gases in the atmosphere. Besides some software tools of the Environmental Protection Agency (such as in particular ISC3), a GIS for urban traffic pollution management and a meteorological and dispersion software package from ARIA Technologies SA are currently available.

More specifically, their use aims at the following goals:

  • supporting local subjects in managing urban traffic related energetic and pollution problems;
  • providing some helping tools to design the traffic urban planning systems;
  • wind and temperature field reconstruction over complex orography;
  • vertical thermal profiles plotting over main urban areas;
  • atmospheric pollution estimation;
  • locating highest pollution risk areas;
  • estimating environmental impact of existing or future structures;
  • management support in emergencies for hazardous gaseous releases.
