Meteo Imobility
Meteo Imobility
The “Meteo I-Mobility” project is funded by the Region of Tuscany. Its main objective is to study and develop a prototype operating system to provide meteorological information within the wider infomobility framework developed by the Region.

The project plans to use:
  • weather information derived from meteorological models (forecasting data)
  • weather information derived from sensors distributed around the region (near real-time data).
In order to provide information as closely correlated as possible with the conditions on the stretches of road involved in the experiment, a number of dedicated meteorology/climate stations are to be installed.

It is important to note that correlating meteorological data with the GIS applications and web services could potentially lead to a process of innovation and transfer of technology from public administrations towards firms working in the supply of advanced services, in the development of sensor technology, the nautical sector and the transport of goods and people sector; for Tuscany, this could imply the involvement of a large number of firms: consider the freight villages in Piombino, Livorno and Prato, and the public transport companies, to cite just a couple of examples.
